        LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

For generations, professionals – particularly women in law – have been sold the idea that “having it all” means excelling at every role simultaneously: building a thriving career, being a present caregiver, maintaining relationships, achieving personal goals, and somehow preserving wellness along the way. Yet for many attorneys, this pursuit can feel less like success and more like an impossible standard that fuels stress, guilt, burnout, and chronic self-pressure.

This engaging and thought-provoking presentation challenges traditional narratives around achievement and explores what it truly means to create a fulfilling and sustainable life in the legal profession. Through research, relatable stories, and practical strategies, participants will examine the hidden costs of perfectionism, over-functioning, and the pressure to “do it all” while redefining success on their own terms.

Attendees will gain insight into the unique challenges lawyers face when balancing demanding careers with caregiving responsibilities- whether caring for children, aging parents, partners, or even themselves. The program will explore how identity, ambition, cultural expectations, and professional norms influence our beliefs around productivity and worth.

Participants will leave with practical tools to:

  • Reframe the concept of “having it all” into a personalized and sustainable definition of success
  • Recognize signs of burnout, emotional depletion, and role overload before reaching crisis points
  • Navigate guilt, boundaries, and competing demands with greater self-compassion
  • Develop strategies for protecting well-being without sacrificing career growth
  • Create healthier integration between work, caregiving, and personal life
  • Identify small, realistic shifts that support long-term resilience and fulfillment

This session is not about achieving perfect balance. It is about creating alignment, making intentional choices, and redefining success in a way that honors both professional ambition and personal well-being.

Dr. Lauren Armstrong, PsyD is a licensed psychologist based in Newport Beach, CA, working with clients in person and virtually throughout the state. Her practice focuses on high-performing professionals, executives, and leaders who seem to have it all figured out externally but are privately dealing with anxiety, burnout, or the sense of running on empty. Rather than just helping clients manage symptoms, Dr. Lauren works to get to the root of what’s driving them, combining practical tools with deeper self-understanding so change actually sticks.

This is a Virtual Program.
